Pictures - Company DPvt. John T. Beavers Company D, 28th Georgia John T. Beavers enlisted as a private on February 27, 1862. The roll for December 31, 1863, last on file, shows him present. There is no later record. He was born on November 27, 1837 and died on October 14, 1914. He was married to Mary Westbrook Beavers (1843-1927). He is buried in the Daniel Family Cemetery in Macedonia, Georgia. The photo shows John and his wife Mary and was taken around 1913. Photo and information courtesy of Robbie Lathem, Summerville, Georgia. 1st Lt. Samuel W. Hillhouse Company D, 28th Georgia Samuel W. Hillhouse enlisted as a private on September 3, 1861. He was breveted to 2nd Lieutenant on September 23, 1862 and later promoted to 1st Lieutenant. He surrendered following the Battle of Bentonville at Greensboro, North Carolina on April 26, 1865. He was born on October 22, 1826 and lived in Cherokee County, Georgia, after the war. He was married to Augusta Ann Cole Hillhouse (1840-1908). He died on July 9, 1887 and was buried in the Hillhouse Family Cemetery in Holly Springs, Cherokee County, Georgia. Image by Michael Land and submitted by Ron Edge. 2nd Cpl. Sion Thomas Honea Company D, 28th Georgia Sion Thomas Honea was born in South Carolina in January 1839. His family moved to Canton, Georgia, when he was a child. He enlisted in the 28th Georgia, Company D on September 3, 1861. He surrendered with the regiment at Greensboro, North Carolina, on April 26, 1865. He was the brother of Pvt. William P. Honea (28th Georgia, Company D) and Pvt. Charles W. Honea (43rd Georgia, Company B). Sion married Talitha Cumi Wilson in Canton, Georgia on January 28, 1866. They had six sons and four daughters, who were born in several places around Georgia and Mississippi. They eventually settled in Indian Territory close to Harrah, Oklahoma. Sion passed away on January 25, 1909 and is buried in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Harrah, Oklahoma.
