Pvt. William Drayton "Drake" McCraw
Company F, 28th Georgia

William Drayton "Drake" McCraw enlisted on July 22, 1861. The roster appears without remark as to presence or absence on roll dated August 31, 1861. Pension records show he was wounded and permanently disabled at Ocean Pond, Florida, February 20, 1864. Enlisted in Johnson's Regiment, Georgia Militia and was paroled at Kingston, Georgia on May 12, 1865. Born in Cherokee County, Georgia on January 19, 1843. His father, George (G.P.) McCraw, and his brother, John A. McCraw were in the 28th Regiment as well. Pictured is his wife Nancy Farmer McCraw. He died in November 1920 and is buried at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Rome, Georgia.
