Company I, 28th Georgia

William Henry Douglas enlisted as a 1st Sergeant in Company I, 28th Georgia Volunteer Infantry, on September 10, 1861. He was elected Jr. 2nd Lieutenant on November 13, 1861 and then 1st Lieutenant on April 19, 1862. He was wounded at Malvern Hill, Virginia, on July 1, 1862. On January 28, 1863, he was elected Captain. He surrendered at Greensboro, North Carolina, on April 26, 1865.
